Wertheimer Defended his ICM Dissertation on “Behavior and Counseling in Urban Ministry in Orlando”

June 12, 2025

Orlando, Florida – Nathan Wertheimer was a student at International College of Ministry in Orlando and graduated in May 2025 with his PhD in Christian Counseling. He chose to write his dissertation on the homeless in Urban Ministry in Orlando. Currently, this is a big topic in the Central Florida area right now. There are no easy solutions to the homeless problem in our society.

While Wertheimer was out in the field in Orlando collecting data, interviewing, and seeing observations, and much more, he noticed that there was a need for field counseling on the streets and at the homeless camps. The homeless needed someone that could listen, give advice, and connect them with local resources. Christian Counselors are needed more then ever in our society. This is why Wertheimer is pushing for more Clergy and Christian Counselors to get out into the field and make contact with the homeless population.

Then on May 1, 2025, Wertheimer presented his dissertation entitled, “Behavior and Counseling in Urban Ministry in Orlando” and gave his dissertation defense. This dissertation was read and reviewed by Dr. Ray Self, President of International College of Ministry. Dr. Self passed and approved this dissertation to be published. A copy of his revised dissertation is attached to this press release.
