The Theaters of War

  • Heart & Mind
  • Deliverance
  • Intercession
  • Assignments & Schemes
  • Kingdom Warfare

Heart & Mind

Pro 4:23 Watch over your heart with all diligence, For from it flow the springs of life.

Mar 7:21-23 “…out of the heart of men, proceed the evil thoughts…these evil things proceed from within and defile the man."

Joyce Myers calls this theater, The Battlefield of the Mind

One very crucial element of the heart and mind is the creation of legal grounds and permissions.

Choices for Good or Evil

Legal grounds and permissions are created through a choice to step out from under the protection of God’s law.

God gave us the Helmet of Salvation to protect the mind and the Breastplate of Righteousness to protect the heart.

Deliverance

Isa 61:1 …He has sent me to… proclaim liberty to captives And freedom to prisoners;

Ministering deliverance is guiding a person to freedom from the oppressive control of demonic spirits and curses.

Brute Force

Like a SWAT team evicting a tenant from his apartment, brute force deliverance uses overwhelming force to cast out or expel an oppressive spirit.

Cancel Legal Grounds

Like a lawyer exercising the authority of the law, cancelling legal grounds removes an oppressive spirit’s permission under God’s law to operate in a person’s life.

Assignments & Schemes

Isa 32:7 - …his weapons are evil; He devises wicked schemes To destroy the afflicted with slander…

Lam 3:59-60 - O LORD, You have seen my oppression; You have seen all their vengeance, All their schemes against me.

Assignments

Assignments and schemes are calculated plans to manipulate and control your life into a continuous state of bondage.

Assignments tend to be short-term or carried out with a specific objective.

Schemes

Schemes come in many varieties, but they all have one purpose – to keep you living in bondage.

Schemes tend to be long-term, repeating themselves again and again throughout a person’s life.

Intercession

Prayer Warriors

The dictionary defines intercession as “a prayer to God on behalf of another person.”

Prayers are directed toward God and often ask Him to intervene on another person’s behalf in answer to the offered prayer.

Intercessory Warriors

Intercessory warriors will wrestle and battle with dark spirits on another person’s behalf.

The intercessory warrior will become a shield protecting another person from attack while clearing the way for the Holy Spirit to minister.

Intercessory warriors and prayer warriors can work together.

Kingdom Warfare

Eph 6:12 For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the powers, against the world forces of this darkness, against the spiritual forces of wickedness in the heavenly places.

Principalities

Dan 10:20 “But I shall now return to fight against the prince of Persia; so I am going forth, and behold, the prince of Greece is about to come.”

City Spirits

This hand drawing (see video) is titled The Spirit of New Orleans.

Notice how the artist filled the inside of the robe with figures and faces.

City of Magic

Orlando is known as the home of the Orlando Magic basketball team and Disney’s Magic Kingdom.

Avatar displays God through Pantheism.

Harry Potter is based on magic and sorcery.

Out of Body

The out-of-body experience is a practice in mysticism and a core principle in Hinduism. It is a form of the occult and it is a counterfeit of God’s truth in the same way that a fortuneteller is a counterfeit of a prophetic word.

Kingdom Warfare

It is in the theater of Kingdom Warfare that we, the body of Christ, must learn to come together under the Spirit of Truth and present a united front alongside God’s warrior angels to defeat Satan and his dark kingdom.

Pray Like a Pro

What is prayer?

  • Prayer can be a request
    • Mat 21:22 “And all things you ask in prayer, believing, you will receive."
    • Php 4:6 Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God.
  • Prayer can be conversation with God
    • Delight in the details
    • Psa 37:23 The LORD directs the steps of the godly. He delights in every detail of their lives.
  • Gratitude
    • 1Th 5:18 In every thing give thanks: for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you.

Who’s called to pray?

Eph 6:18 With all prayer and petition pray at all times in the Spirit, and with this in view, be on the alert with all perseverance and petition for all the saints,

What if you don't know what to pray for?

Prime your prayers with “standards” while listening for specifics.
  • Invitation
  • Gratuity
  • Faith
  • Anointing
  • Wisdom
  • Discernment

What if I don’t know any verses?

Heb 8:10 - I WILL PUT MY LAWS INTO THEIR MINDS, AND I WILL WRITE THEM ON THEIR HEARTS.

What do you do if you get stuck in the middle of a prayer and don’t know what to say?
  • Don’t be Afraid of Silent Moments – Pause & Listen
  • Ask the Holy Spirit to Lead
  • Let Go and Let the Holy Spirit Lead

Why do some people want to hold hands when they pray?

Gal 2:9 James, Peter, and John, who seemed to be the leaders, recognized that God had given me this special task; so they shook hands with Barnabas and me, as a sign that we were all partners. We agreed that Barnabas and I would work among the Gentiles and they among the Jews.

What if someone beats me and prays my prayer first?
  • Pray anyway as the Holy Spirit leads you.
  • Two are in agreement
  • Two parts of one prayer

The Power of Prayer
  • Daniel sets kingdoms in motion through prayer
  • In Acts, the Church prays and God sends an angel to rescue Peter from prison. Later same angle exacts the Lord’s revenge on the king.

Different Kinds of Prayer
  • Prayer Closet — Private Prayer
  • Group Prayer — Church, Home Group, etc.
  • Meditational Prayer — Studying God’s word and seeking the author’s voice
  • Ministerial Prayer — Praying over another
  • Intercessory Prayer — Praying over another or on another’s behalf
  • Corporate Prayer — Prayer over the Church, Body of Christ, and government

Prayer Language

Tongues — 3 Kinds:
  • Private Prayer Language
  • Corporate Message (needs an interpreter)
  • Manifestation of the Holy Spirit

The Corruption of Prayer

Praying to false gods:
  • That society is long gone.
  • Today we have different idols.

Praying for the Lusts of the Heart:
  • Jas 4:3 You ask and do not receive, because you ask with wrong motives, so that you may spend it on your pleasures.

Contemplative Prayer – Doctrine of Demons:
  • Php 4:8 In conclusion, my friends, fill your minds with those things that are good and that deserve praise: things that are true, noble, right, pure, lovely, and honorable.
  • 2Co 10:5 We are destroying speculations and every lofty thing raised up against the knowledge of God, and we are taking every thought captive to the obedience of Christ.

Vibration Prayer:
  • Pantheism - a doctrine that identifies God with the universe, or regards the universe as a manifestation of God.
  • Pantheism prays to the creation instead of the creator.
  • Mat 6:7 “And when you are praying, do not use meaningless repetition as the Gentiles do…”

Praying Like the Heathens — Many Words
  • Mat 6:7 “…for they suppose that they will be heard for their many words.

Beginning & Ending Prayer
  • “Our Father who art in Heaven”
    • Heavenly Father
    • “Heavenly Father, we come to you in the name of your son Jesus.” - Every time we come before the Father, we do so through the cross.
  • In Jesus’ name — Why do we say this? Is it always appropriate?
    • Joh 14:13 “Whatever you ask in My name, that will I do, so that the Father may be glorified in the Son."
  • Amen
    • Church of England — Declaration of Agreement

Fear of Praying in Public
  • I don’t know Bible verses or references.
    • It’s what’s in your heart that matters.
  • I might say something that’s wrong.
  • Someone else might pray the same thing.
    • Mat 18:19 “Again I say to you, that if two of you agree on earth about anything that they may ask, it shall be done for them by My Father who is in heaven.
  • My praying isn’t good like others.
    • God values what is in your heart — not how you sound to men.
    • Mat 19:14 But Jesus said, "Let the children alone, and do not hinder them from coming to Me; for the kingdom of heaven belongs to such as these."
  • I don’t want to interrupt someone else.
    • Your prayer may hold another’s healing – Don’t hold back.
  • What if I sound silly?
    • A worry of pride

Suggestions
  1. Be sensitive to how the Holy Spirit flows through you.
  2. Don’t try to copy the way other people pray — Be who God created you to be.
  3. Pray for things that glorify God and are in His will.
  4. Pray for things that serve the Kingdom of God.
  5. In my experience, the most frequently answered prayer are prayers offered on another’s behalf. In other words, pray for others more than yourself.
  6. Pray in agreement with God’s word.
  7. Don’t pray for things God has already given you or commanded you to do.
  8. Practice when to pray, when to petition, and when to proclaim.
  9. Short prayers are okay! If all you have to pray is “Holy Spirit be with us and teach us,” then pray that and don’t feel like you need to add more.

What to pray for when you don’t know what to pray for:
  • God’s will in the life of you and others
  • Discernment to Understand God’s Will & Word
  • Faith — To Do the Things Set Before You
  • Wisdom — to Apply God’s Word
  • Anointing — to Serve Others
  • Boldness — to Share God’s Word and Step Out in Faith
  • Opportunities — to Serve God’s Kingdom

Why God Allows Bad Things to Happen

Joh 3:16 “For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish, but have eternal life."

There is evil in the fallen world:

Job 1:6 Now there was a day when the sons of God came to present themselves before the LORD, and Satan also came among them.
Job 1:7 The LORD said to Satan, "From where do you come?" Then Satan answered the LORD and said, "From roaming about on the earth and walking around on it."

1Pe 5:8 Be of sober spirit, be on the alert. Your adversary, the devil, prowls around like a roaring lion, seeking someone to devour.

1Jn 5:18 We know that no one who is born of God sins; but He who was born of God keeps him, and the evil one does not touch him.
1Jn 5:19 We know that we are of God, and that the whole world lies in the power of the evil one.

What is Deliverance? Deliverance is freedom from bondage.

Who is Deliverance for?

Mat 12:45 & Luke 11:26 tell us the condition of a man after deliverance will be worse than the first.

Mat 12:45 “Then it goes and takes along with it seven other spirits more wicked than itself, and they go in and live there; and the last state of that man becomes worse than the first."

Who is called to deliverance?

Isa 61:1 The Spirit of the Lord GOD is upon me, Because the LORD has anointed me To bring good news to the afflicted; He has sent me to bind up the brokenhearted, To proclaim liberty to captives And freedom to prisoners;

Joh 14:12 "Truly, truly, I say to you, he who believes in Me, the works that I do, he will do also; and greater works than these he will do; because I go to the Father."

If deliverance is for believers, and Christ’s work on the cross was perfect and complete, then why do so many born-again believers continue to live in bondage?

Bad Things Happen

Job 1:9 Then Satan answered the LORD, "Does Job fear God for nothing?
Job 1:10 “Have You not made a hedge about him and his house and all that he has, on every side? You have blessed the work of his hands, and his possessions have increased in the land.
Job 1:11 “But put forth Your hand now and touch all that he has; he will surely curse You to Your face."

Put Forth is shâlach and in context means to withdraw or pull back.

Satan has to get past God’s hedge of protection before bad things can happen.

Saul & The Evil Spirit of the Lord

1Sa 16:14 Now the Spirit of the LORD departed from Saul, and an evil spirit from the LORD terrorized him.
1Sa 15:23 “For rebellion is as the sin of divination, And insubordination is as iniquity and idolatry. Because you have rejected the word of the LORD, He has also rejected you from being king."

Types of People who Read/Study God’s Word

  • Landlubber – People who won’t go in the water.
  • Waders – People who will wade in ankle deep.
  • Swimmers – People who stay on the surface of the water.
  • Snorkelers – People who peer into the depths but stay on the surface.
  • Divers – People who deeply immerse themselves in the water.

What is a conditional statement?

Rom 10:9 that if you confess with your mouth Jesus as Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved;

The inverse of a conditional statement is always true.

What is a conjunction?

A conjunction ties together two ideas or complete sentences. Some of the most common conjunctions in English are and, because, but, for, nor, so, until, when, and yet.

Joh 8:31 So Jesus was saying to those Jews who had believed Him, "If you continue in My word, then you are truly disciples of Mine;
Joh 8:32 and you will know the truth, and the truth will make you free."

1. Are salvation and freedom conditional?
2. Is salvation and freedom one in the same?

Two conditional statements:

Rom 10:9 …if you confess with your mouth Jesus as Lord, and believe in your heart

John 8:31 If you continue in My word…

Is a captive person free? – No

Is a free person a captive? – No, otherwise they wouldn’t be free.

Joh 8:36 "So if the Son makes you free, you will be free indeed."

Then, if whomever the Son sets free is free indeed, why do so many believers continue living in bondage?

Here are the big theology paragraphs of the evening…

Freedom from God’s law is not freedom to break His law. In God’s law is power over the fallen world and freedom is in the name of Jesus Christ.

God’s law governs what the dark kingdom can and cannot do and your choice to abide in or rebel against God’s word either grants or denies permission for evil to work in your life.

The Law that Binds:

Mat 18:18 "Truly I say to you, whatever you bind on earth shall have been bound in heaven; and whatever you loose on earth shall have been loosed in heaven."

This is something like a police officer arresting a suspect and putting handcuffs on them. The handcuffs bind the person’s movement, but the police officer is only enforcing the law. There must first be a law before it can be enforced. This verse provides the authority for binding, but what exactly is the law?

Mat 5:17 "Do not think that I came to abolish the Law or the Prophets; I did not come to abolish but to fulfill.
Mat 5:18 "For truly I say to you, until heaven and earth pass away, not the smallest letter or stroke shall pass from the Law until all is accomplished.

The Word of God is the law. It is the word of the Creator Himself and Christ fulfilled the law perfecting it filling it with His authority.

Conclusion:

Why do so many believers continue to live in bondage? Through their choices they have rebelled against God’s word and given permission to evil.

1Sa 15:23 "…Because you have rejected the word of the LORD, He has also rejected you from being king."

Rom 8:31 …If God is for us, who is against us?

Joh 8:31 "If you continue in My word, then you are truly disciples of Mine; and you will know the truth, and the truth will make you free."

1Jn 5:18 We know that no one who is born of God sins; but He who was born of God keeps him, and the evil one does not touch him.

You have control over your choices. If you make a choice you can un-make that choice. If your choice gives evil permission to work in your life, you can take that choice away.

God’s word calls this renouncing.

Pro 28:13 He who conceals his sins does not prosper, but whoever confesses and renounces them finds mercy.

A Simple Renouncement:

By the power and authority of the blood of Christ, I proclaim that I changed my mind and I cancel any and all permissions I gave to evil. By the authority in the name of Jesus, I proclaim evil has no permission to work in my life.
