Prophetic Worship is a type of Worship where you allow the Holy Spirit to speak and sing through you, expressing praise and adoration to God in a unique and personal way. Prophetic Worship aims to bring us deeper intimacy with God, allowing us to hear His voice and respond in obedience.

King David sought to bring the Ark of God back into Jerusalem to restore proper Worship. The Ark of God had been previously captured by the Philistines but was sent back to Israel because of the curse that it brought upon the Philistine people (1 Samuel 7)

David pitched a tent for the ark in Jerusalem. He put it inside the tent and set singers and musicians surrounding the ark twenty-four hours a day, seven days a week. This was their full-time occupation; they didn't have any other service except day and night to sing to the glory of God resting over the mercy seat.

The Tabernacle of David was the center of a new order of joyful Worship, which starkly contrasted with the solemn Worship of Moses's Tabernacle.

Instead of the sacrifices of animals, the sacrifices offered at David's Tabernacle were the sacrifices of praise, joy, and thanksgiving.

The radical shift in the order of Worship by establishing the Tabernacle of David brought a major revelation of the order of worship "as it is in heaven" upon the earth.

Every believer should want heaven and earth to meet during the worship experience.

2 Chr 29:25 - And he set the Levites in the house of the Lord with cymbals, with psalteries, and with harps, according to the commandment of David, and of Gad, the king's seer, and Nathan the prophet: for so was the commandment of the Lord by his prophets.

David's Tabernacle is a depiction of what Revelation 4:8 The four living creatures, each having six wings, were full of eyes around and within, and they rest not day and night, saying Holy, holy, holy, Lord God Almighty.

The Hebrew word translated as "tabernacle" is ohel, which means "a tent (as clearly conspicuous from a distance): a covering, (dwelling) (place), home, tabernacle, tent."

The Tabernacle of David was basically a tent that David set up to host a night and day worship meeting before the Ark of the Covenant (God's presence).

The establishment of the Melchizedek order of Worship replaced the Aaronic order of Worship, where only certain clergy were permitted to access the presence of God.

God wants to meet us face-to-face in an intimate way. He does not want us to avoid hearing His voice.

The LORD said to Moses, "I am going to come to you in a dense cloud, so that the people will hear me speaking with you and will always put their trust in you." Then Moses told the LORD what the people had said. Exodus 9:19

"Now all the people witnessed the thunderings, the lightning flashes, the sound of the trumpet, and the mountain smoking; and when the people saw it, they trembled and stood afar off. Then they said to Moses, 'You speak with us, and we will hear; but let not God speak with us, lest we die'" Exodus 20:13-19

They wanted to worship God from afar. Moses's Tabernacle represented judgment and law. David's Tabernacle represents grace.

A DIFFERENT TYPE OF WORSHIP:

At David's Tabernacle, the people:

Made sacrifices of praise (instead of animal sacrifices) to God (Ps: 27:6).

  • Clapped their hands (Psalm 47:1).
  • Lifted their hands in Worship (Psalm 134).
  • Shouted (Psalm 47:1, 5).
  • Danced (2 Samuel 6:16; Psalm 149:3).
  • Sought the Lord (1 Chronicles 16:10-11), and
  • Played their instruments (1 Chronicles 23:5; Psalm 47:5; Psalm 149:3).
  • They had glory times in God's presence.

FREE ACCESS TO GOD'S PRESENCE

  • King David had full, free access to God's Presence at the Tabernacle of David.
  • Further, there was no veil separating people from the Ark of the Covenant, as there was in Moses's Tabernacle.
  • Everyone could come before God's Presence at this simple tent.
  • Besides these expressions of Worship, the psalmists also wrote several times about Gentiles coming into the Kingdom of God. (Psalm 18:49; Psalm 117:1; Psalm 47:8-9).
  • They would have the same access to God's presence as the Jews.

The Tabernacle of David was a symbol or foreshadowing of the Church. In the Book of Hebrews, we are told to come boldly into the Throne Room of God (Hebrews 4:16)

Because of the redeeming work of Jesus, we have full access to God's presence, as they did in the Tabernacle of David.

The New Testament writers described Jesus as head of the Church The prophet Isaiah described this in a slightly different way. He said the Messiah would rule from the "tent of David" (Isaiah 16:5).

Davidic Worship fulfills the command of Jesus to "love the Lord your God with all your heart, all your soul, all your mind and all your strength" (Mark 12:30).

As the Body of Christ, we are a spiritual Tabernacle that houses the presence of God, revealing his glory to the world.

Ephesians 2:19-22:

Consequently, you are no longer foreigners and aliens but fellow citizens with God's people and members of God's household, built on the foundation of the apostles and prophets, with Christ Jesus himself as the chief cornerstone. In him the whole building is joined together and rises to become a holy temple in the Lord. And in him you too are being built together to become a dwelling in which God lives by his Spirit.

God wants to communicate through us by His Spirit. He longs to sing over us.

David was known for Worship and was a prophet. He is called the sweet psalmist of Israel. (2 Samuel 23:1-2)

Prophets established Israel's Worship. Prophets were also the worship leaders (Asap, Heman, and Jeduthun). Prophets love the presence of God.

2 Chr 29:25 - And he set the Levites in the house of the Lord with cymbals, with psalteries, and with harps, according to the commandment of David, and of Gad the king's seer, and Nathan the prophet: for so was the commandment of the Lord by his prophets.

The Song of the Lord

Colossians 3:16, which says, “Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom; teaching and admonishing one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with grace in your hearts to the Lord.”

The song of the Lord refers to a song that the Lord sings over us. Ephesians 5:19 calls it a spiritual song. Jesus sings His song of love over us to tell us of His great love.

Song of Songs gives us an example of the Lord singing over us.

I am truly his rose, the very theme of his song. I’m overshadowed by his love, growing in the valley! Song of Songs 2:1 (The Passion Translation, TPT)

This is a picture of Jesus singing over His love, the church.

My beloved is to me the most fragrant apple tree— he stands above the sons of men. Sitting under his grace-shadow, I blossom in his shade, enjoying the sweet taste of his pleasant, delicious fruit, resting with delight where his glory never fades. Song of Songs 2:3 (The Passion Translation, TPT)

Ephesians 5:19 Speaking to yourselves in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody in your heart to the Lord.

A psalm is a scripture set to music. The Greek word for psalm means a striking with the fingers.

A hymn is an anthem of the church. According to the original Greek, it is a song of praise to God.

A spiritual song is a song that is received, sung, and quickened by the Holy Spirit. The Greek indicates it is a song in or of the Spirit.

Sing unto him a new song; play skillfully with a loud noise. Psalm 33:3 (KJV)

When we face new things, God will give us a new song. Sing the new song God gives you. Your victory, deliverance, and breakthrough is in the song you sing.

But none saith, where is God my maker, who giveth songs in the night. Job 35:10 (KJV)

God gives us songs in the night. He brings deliverance through songs that release His power to open doors and break chains of bondage.

Thou art my hiding place; thou shalt preserve me from trouble; thou shalt compass me about with songs of deliverance. Selah. Psalm 32:7 (KJV)

And at midnight Paul and Silas prayed and sang praises unto God: and the prisoners heard them. And suddenly there was a great earthquake, so that the foundations of the prison were shaken: and immediately all the doors were opened, and every one's bands were loosed. Acts 16:25-26 (KJV)

When you sing, you release God and His power to work for you. No problem can stop an anointed song sent from heaven to deal with earthly issues.

The song of the Lord can be released in corporate worship or in individual times of worship.

We are the very theme of His song, and He overshadows us with His love. God releases His presence to us as He sings over us.

The Lord thy God in the midst of thee is mighty; he will save, he will rejoice over thee with joy; he will rest in his love, he will joy over thee with singing. Zephaniah 3:17 (KJV)

Saying, I will declare thy name unto my brethren, in the midst of the church will I sing praise unto thee. Hebrews 2:12 (KJV)

I am truly his rose, the very theme of his song. I’m overshadowed by his love, growing in the valley! Song of Songs 2:1 (The Passion Translation, TPT)

Thou art my hiding place; thou shalt preserve me from trouble; thou shalt compass me about with songs of deliverance. Selah. Psalm 32:7 (KJV)

The Lord is our Hiding Place and He protects us. He compasses, or surrounds, us with songs of deliverance. He sings over us, and then we can sing back to Him what he has sung over us.

This is one way the Lord releases deliverance to us- deliverance from poverty, pain, sickness, accidents- anything we need delivered from.

God sings over us, revealing Himself, His love and His will for us.

In response, we sing our worship to God, releasing our faith in what His song has told us.

As we worship, God is working for us to meet our need.

The song of the Lord cuts through all the noise so we can hear from Him and get His direction.

When we hear the song of the Lord, we experience God in a more personal way.

As we hear God sing over us His song, we respond in worship and He brings deliverance. Therefore, our victory is in His song.

As He sings to us, He is drawing us nearer to Him, and making His presence known.

It pulls us deeper into the realm of God where the supernatural manifestations of God occur.

As God sings to us and we sing to Him, the love songs just keep flowing, and miracles happen. Encounters happen!

My Personal Testimony- Warfare in My Room

God gives us songs in the night. He brings deliverance through songs that release His power to open doors and break chains of bondage.

Thou art my hiding place; thou shalt preserve me from trouble; thou shalt compass me about with songs of deliverance. Selah. Psalm 32:7 (KJV)

Sing a prophetic song over your situation, speaking the desired outcome with the lyrics.

Do not let your circumstances tell you how your life will be. Instead, sing prophetically to decree how God says it will be.

Rom 4:17 - I have made thee a Father of many nation have in the sight of Him in whom he believed, even God who gives life to the dead , and calls the things that are not , as though they were.

Job 22:28 Thou shalt also decree a thing, and it shall be established unto thee: and the light shall shine upon thy ways.

As we release our songs to the Lord, He releases His presence to us. The more we sing to Him, and about Him, the more He will manifest in our lives.

In these three verses, God is represented as all three members of the Trinity, and all three are pictured as singing. God in three persons is a singing God.

The Father sings over us.

The Lord thy God in the midst of thee is mighty; he will save, he will rejoice over thee with joy; he will rest in his love, he will joy over thee with singing. Zephaniah 3:17 (KJV)

Jesus sings over us.

Saying, I will declare thy name unto my brethren, in the midst of the church will I sing praise unto thee. Hebrews 2:12 (KJV)

He sings through and to His church. First, He sings praises to His father through the church. Then, Jesus sings His songs, what are often termed “the songs of the Lord” to His church. It is the bridegroom singing a love song to the bride.

The Holy Spirit Sings To Us

And be not drunk with wine, wherein is excess; but be filled with the Spirit; speaking to yourselves in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody in your heart to the Lord. Ephesians 5:18-19 (KJV)

In this passage, we learn that the Holy Spirit sings through the church with psalms, hymns, and singing. Then, the Spirit sings to the church through spiritual songs, which refers to the songs the Holy Spirit sings to and over us.
