The Cherub that Covers

Perfect in Beauty

Lucifer

• Latin root means “the one who brings light”
• In Hebrew Lucifer means “the morning star”
• Isa 14:12 – “Oh Star of the morning, son of the dawn”

Arch-Angel

• Greek root “arch” means “ruling”
• Arch-Angels are “angels that rule”
• Lucifer was a ruling angel like arch-angels Michael and Gabriel

Cherub that Covers

• Eze 28:14 – “anointed cherub who covers.”
• Exodus 37:9 – “The cherubim spread out their wings above, and covered the mercy seat with their wings…”
• Lucifer had covered with his wings the place of the manifestation of God’s glory in His heavenly temple.

Heaven’s Music Leader

• Isa 14:11 – “Your pomp and the music of your harps…”
• Eze 28:13 – “the workmanship of your tabrets” (tambourines)
• Job 38:7 – “When the morning stars sang together, and all the sons of God shouted for joy?”

Eze 28:13 – “…Every precious stone was your covering; The ruby, the topaz and the diamond; The beryl, the onyx and the jasper; The lapis lazuli, and turquoise and the emerald.”


A High Priest

Exodus 28:15-21 – “You shall make a breastplate of judgment…the first row shall be…ruby, topaz, emerald; the second row a turquoise, a sapphire and a diamond; the third row a jacinth, an agate and an amethyst; and the fourth row a beryl and an onyx and a jasper;…”


Perfect in Beauty

Eze 28:12 – “Thus says the Lord GOD, “You had the seal of perfection, Full of wisdom and perfect in beauty.”


Blameless

Eze 28:15 – “You were blameless in your ways From the day you were created Until unrighteousness was found in you.”


Looked Upon Creation

Job 38:6–7 “…Or who laid its cornerstone, when the morning stars sang together and all the sons of God shouted for joy?”

Morning stars & sons of God sang together and shouted for joy as they looked upon creation.

Pride – The First Sin

Luke 10:18 – He replied, “I saw Satan fall like lightening from heaven.”

Eze 28:17 – “Your heart was lifted up because of your beauty; You corrupted your wisdom by reason of your splendor. I cast you to the ground; I put you before kings, that they may see you.”


Iniquity is Found

Eze 28:16 – “By the abundance of your trade (Persistent plotting) You were internally filled with violence, And you sinned; Therefore I have cast you as profane From the mountain of God. And I have destroyed you, O covering cherub, From the midst of the stones of fire.”

Pro 11:13 – “He who goes about as a talebearer reveals secrets…”

Pro 20:19 – “He who goes about as a slanderer reveals secrets…”

By today’s definition: campaigning or lobbying.

Eze 28:18 – “By the multitude of your iniquities, In the unrighteousness of your trade You profaned your sanctuaries. Therefore I have brought fire from the midst of you; It has consumed you, And I have turned you to ashes on the earth In the eyes of all who see you.”


Lucifer’s Five Declarations

1. I will ascend to heaven
2. I will raise my throne above the stars of God
3. I will sit on the mount of assembly
4. I will ascend above the heights of the clouds
5. I will make myself like the Most High

#1 – “I will ascend to heaven” - If Lucifer declares that he will ascend to heaven, then there must be a heaven above him to ascend to.

#2 – “I will raise my throne above the stars.” - It appears Lucifer proclaimed himself as royalty and purposed himself to rule from his own throne, possibly in third heaven, a place above the stars and an equal with God.

#3 – “I will sit on the mount of assembly” - Lucifer may feel it beneath him to cover the mercy seat and instead feels his rightful place is to sit upon the mercy seat himself, before the sons of God at the mount of assembly.

#4 – “I will ascend above the heights of the clouds” - Lucifer is proclaiming his perceived equality with God and so Lucifer may also see himself as worthy to reside in third-heaven beside God.

#5 – “I will make myself like the Most High” - Lucifer claims he will re-create what God created and make himself like the Most High God – in God’s likeness like a reflection in a mirror.

Eze 28:16: …I have destroyed you O covering cherub…

Eze 28:19 – You will cease to be forever

“Lucifer was perhaps the wisest and most beautiful of all God’s creatures. But Scripture says his heart was lifted up. After growing proud because of his wisdom and his beauty, and after hatching his planned rebellion against God, he was cast down from the presence of God and his traitorous angels were cast down with him.” – Lucifer Exposed, Derek Prince pp 23


As a Result of Pride

• Satan fell from authority – Not to hell
• Satan was cast (expelled) from the mountain of God
• Satan was relieved of his duty as the cherub that covers
• Satan was relieved of his duty as a high priest of God
• Satan was stripped of rank as arch-angel
• Satan rebelled against heaven and established a lower ranking kingdom in a lower heaven (1st Heaven).
• (Out of shame?) Satan disguises himself to conceal his identity

Adamah - Apple of the Father’s Eye

Adam in Hebrew is “adamah” meaning “earth.”

The Adamic race is an “earthy race.”

Gen 2:7 – God formed man of the dust of the ground

Lucifer’s perfection of beauty led to pride.

God made man of the lowliest of material so man would not become prideful, but there’s more…

God created man of dust but He also created man in His own image.

Man is the only created being made in the creator’s own image and likeness.

God combined in Adam both the lowest and the highest.

Gen 2:7 – “Then the LORD God formed man of dust from the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living being.”

The moment man came into being is marked by a face-to-face intimate encounter with his creator.

God created man for fellowship with Himself.

Psa 37:23 – “The LORD directs the steps of the godly. He delights in every detail of their lives.” (NLT)

Eph 2:6 – “For He raised us from the dead along with Christ and seated us with Him in the heavenly realms because we are united with Christ Jesus”

Psa 8:4-5 – “What is man, that thou art mindful of him? And the son of man, that thou visitest him? Four thou hast made him a little lower than the angels, and hast crowned him with glory and honour.”

Gen 2:19 – “Out of the ground the LORD God formed every beast of the field and every bird of the sky, and brought them to the man to see what he would call them; and whatever the man called a living creature, that was its name."

God gave man dominion over the earth.

Personification

1. A figure of speech in which inanimate objects or abstractions are endowed with human qualities or are represented as possessing human form.
2. (Literary & Literary Critical Terms) the attribution of human characteristics to things, abstract ideas, etc., as for literary or artistic effect.

• I was robbed of my rightful place.
• I was robbed of my authority.
• I must hide myself among the sons of God.
• I am rebuked and the dirt creatures are honored!
• All that is rightfully mine, was given to the dirt creatures.
• I am superior to the dirt creatures.
• I am the perfection of beauty and wisdom!
• I deserve to be worshipped as a god!
• I will make the dirt creatures worship me!
• I will destroy the dirt creatures.

The Accuser of the Brethren

Gen 1:26 – “Let us make man in Our image, according to Our likeness”

Satan blames God for his fall, but can’t touch God. Satan can however, defile the image of God he sees in man, like someone destroying a photograph.

Rev 12:17 – “So the dragon was enraged with the woman, and went off to make war with the rest of her children, who keep the commandments of God and hold to the testimony of Jesus”

Numbers 31:1-3 – God’s war becomes our war

1 Pe 5:8 – “Be of sober spirit, be on the alert. Your adversary, the devil, prowls around like a roaring lion, seeking someone to devour.”

John 10:10 – “The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I came that they may have life, and have it abundantly.”


Satan’s most effective tactic is to bring division among the ranks of God’s people.

Mar 3:24 – “If a kingdom is divided against itself, that kingdom cannot stand.”


Satan’s primary weapon is guilt.

Rom 8:1 There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit.


Satan infiltrates the church through witchcraft.

The Power Leg – Leaders Beware

Anytime one person presses their will upon another person to achieve a desired outcome, they are practicing the power leg of witchcraft.

There is a fine line between encouraging someone to choose and intimidating someone to conform.


The Sorcery Leg – Magic & Drugs

The sorcery leg of witchcraft includes casting spells, casting hexes, voodoo, magic potions, sacrifices, rituals, and black magic.

The Greek word pharmakeia is where we get our English word pharmacy. Pharmakeia is defined as sorcery.


The Accuser of the Brethren

Rev 12:7-9 – “…Michael and his angels fought with the dragon (Satan);…So the great dragon was cast out…”

Rev 12:11 – “And they (the believers of the earth) overcame him (Satan) by the blood of the Lamb and by the word of their testimony.”

“It is important for us to recognize that the victory in this conflict against Satan’s kingdom will only come through a joint action by God’s angels in heaven and the believers on earth.” – Derek Prince, War in Heaven, pp145

Rev 20:10 – “And the devil who deceived them was thrown into the lake of fire and brimstone, where the beast and the false prophet are also; and they will be tormented day and night forever and ever.”
