For many people, evangelism does not come naturally. That is why it is always done best with God’s help.

Acts 1:8 - but you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you; and you shall be My witnesses

Reasons to Share the Gospel

To Bring Glory to God:

1 Corinthians 10:31 - Whether, then, you eat or drink or whatever you do, do all to the glory of God.

People Are Lost:

2 Corinthians 4:4 - The god of this age has blinded the minds of unbelievers, so that they cannot see the light of the Gospel of the glory of Christ, who is the image of God.

Unbelievers Are Being Judged:

John 3:18 - He who believes in Him is not judged; he who does not believe has been judged already, because he has not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God.

We Have Been Given a Ministry:

As ambassadors of Christ we have been given a ministry - 2 Corinthians 5:18 - Now all these things are from God, who reconciled us to Himself through Christ and gave us the ministry of reconciliation,

We Are Not Ashamed:

Romans 1:16 - I am not ashamed of the gospel, for it is the power of God for salvation to everyone who believes.

Obedience:

Matthew 28:19 - Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit,

Because You Want to Tell Others About What God Has Done in Your Life:

Psalm 96:2-3 - Sing to the Lord, bless his name; tell of his salvation from day to day. Declare his glory among the nations, his marvelous works among all the peoples!

Luke 8:39 - "Return to your house and describe what great things God has done for you." So he went away, proclaiming throughout the whole city what great things Jesus had done for him."

Because You Love People:

Matthew 9:36 - Seeing the people, He felt compassion for them, because they were distressed and dispirited like sheep without a shepherd.

Matthew 9:37 - Then He said to His disciples, "The harvest is plentiful, but the workers are few."

Other Reasons

  1. Jesus commanded us to share the gospel - Mark 16:15 - And He said to them, "Go into all the world and preach the gospel to all creation."
  2. The end of this world and the creation of a new heaven and earth is dependent upon us sharing the gospel.- Matthew 24:14 "And this gospel of the kingdom shall be preached in the whole world for a witness to all the nations, and then the end shall come."
  3. Jesus will return - Revelation 1:7 - BEHOLD, HE IS COMING WITH THE CLOUDS, and every eye will see Him, even those who pierced Him; and all the tribes of the earth will mourn over Him. So it is to be. Amen.
  4. Because we should want everyone we know to have eternal life. - John 3:16 - "For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish, but have eternal life."
  5. Because there is joy in heaven when we share the gospel. - Luke 15:7 - "I tell you that in the same way, there will be more joy in heaven over one sinner who repents than over ninety-nine righteous persons who need no repentance."

Three Easy Steps to Sharing Christ

  1. Describe yourself before you were saved.
  2. Talk about how you received salvation.
  3. Describe the changes in your life since you were saved.

Same Works as Jesus

Same Works as Jesus

Mark 14:36 And He was saying, "Abba! Father! All things are possible for You; remove this cup from Me; yet not what I will, but what You will."

Jesus took the cup that belonged to us. Within the cup was the poison that was punishment for all our sins and rebellion.

He made us into a vessel that the Holy Spirit can come and live within.

Jesus wants more than just to save us. He wants us to work for Him during our time on earth.

2 Corinthian 5:14 – 15 For the love of Christ controls us, having concluded this, that one died for all, therefore all died; and He died for all, so that they who live might no longer live for themselves, but for Him who died and rose again on their behalf.

We have a responsibility to respond to the gift of salvation.

Jesus gave us some specific instructions —

Act 1:8 but you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you; and you shall be My witnesses both in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and even to the remotest part of the earth."

We are to be witnesses of Christ, but we are to do it with power.

We are more than a witness. We are an ambassador that carries the authority of the one who sent us.

2 Corinthian 5:20 Therefore, we are ambassadors for Christ,

"Ambassador" - Webster’s definition - : the highest-ranking person who represents his or her own government while living in another country

We represent Christ and His kingdom to another country which is this world.

John 14:12 "Truly, truly, I say to you, he who believes in Me, the works that I do, he will do also; and greater works than these he will do; because I go to the Father.”

The only condition for the commandment within this Scripture is to be a believer.

The promise and command of the John 14:12 is that believers will do the same works as Jesus and even greater works.

Our response to our salvation is to do the works of Christ. Each one of us is to continue His ministry in the area assigned to us.

A true Christ centered ministry is a supernatural ministry. The best way to represent our supernatural Savior is to do the same supernatural works that He did.

What, works did Jesus do? Here is a partial list —

  • Healed Simon Peter's mother-in-law - (Matthew 8:14-15, Mark 1:29-31, Luke 4:38-39)
  • Healed the sick during the evening - (Matt 8:16, Mark 1:32, Luke 4:40)
  • Caught a large number of fish - (Luke 5:3-10)
  • Healed a leper - (Matthew 8:1-4; Mark 1:40-45; Luke 5:12-15)
  • Healed a centurion's servant - (Matthew 8:5-13, Luke 7:1-10)
  • Healed a paralyzed man - (Matthew 9:1-8, Mark 2:1-12, Luke 5:18-26)
  • Healed a withered hand - (Matthew 12:9-14, Mark 3:1-6, Luke 6:6-10)
  • Raised a widow's son from the dead - (Luke 7:11-17)
  • Calmed the stormy sea - (Matthew 8:23-27, Mark 4:35-41, Luke 8:22-25)
  • Healed the Gerasene demon-possessed man - (Matthew 8:28-32, Mark 5:1-13, Luke 8:26-33)
  • Healed a woman with internal bleeding - (Matthew 9:20-22, Mark 5:25-34, Luke 8:43-48)
  • Raised Jairus' daughter from the dead - (Matthew 9:18-19, 23-25; Mark 5:22-24, 35-43; Luke 8:41-42, 49-56)
  • Healed two blind men - (Matthew 9:27-31)
  • Healed a man who was crippled for 38 years - (John 5:1-17)
  • Fed 5000 men and their families - (Matthew 14:16-21, Mark 6:35-44, Luke 9:12-17, John 6:5-14)
  • Walked on water - (Matthew 14:22-33, Mark 6:45-52, John 6:16-21)
  • Healed many in Gennesaret - (Matthew 14:34-36; Mark 6:53-56)
  • Healed a demon-possessed girl - (Matthew 15:21-28, Mark 7:24-30)
  • Fed 4000 men and their families -(Matthew 15:29-39, Mark 8:1-10)
  • Brought Lazarus back to life - (John 11:1-44)
  • Healed 10 men suffering from leprosy - (Luke 17:11-19)

Jesus has given us power to be true witnesses.

A witness of Christ doesn't just talk about Christ. He demonstrates Christ.

As a demonstration of Christ we are to make disciples and do it the way that Jesus did.

Jesus did not simply teach them about the power of God. He demonstrated the power and love of God.

We are to make disciples but do it with demonstrations of the supernatural power of Jesus Christ.

Mat 28:19 "Go therefore and make disciples of nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit,"

Salvation comes with responsibilities.

It is No Longer I Who Live

It is No Longer I Who Live

Jesus’ death and resurrection were vicarious.

"Vicarious" comes from the word "vicar" which means "a substitute" — one who takes the place of another and acts in his stead"

Isaiah 53:6 All we like sheep have gone astray; we have turned every one to his own way; and the Lord hath laid on him the iniquity of us all.

As believers we can live vicariously through the death and the resurrection of Jesus.

Galatians 2:20 "I have been crucified with Christ; and it is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me; and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave Himself up for me."

Luke 23:33-34 When they came to the place called The Skull, there they crucified Him and the criminals, one on the right and the other on the left. But Jesus was saying, "Father, forgive them; for they do not know what they are doing." And they cast lots, dividing up His garments among themselves.

Without the conviction of the Holy Spirit the world does not understand they are committing terrible sins against God.

Luke 23:42-43 And he was saying, "Jesus, remember me when You come in Your kingdom!" And He said to him, "Truly I say to you, today you shall be with Me in Paradise."

It is never too late for simple act of faith.

Luke 23:44-45 It was now about the sixth hour, and darkness fell over the whole land until the ninth hour, because the sun was obscured; and the veil of the temple was torn in two

In a powerful prophetic move because of the sacrifice of His son God tore the veil that separated His people from His presence. It was a legal move.

John 19:30 Therefore when Jesus had received the sour wine, He said, "It is finished!" And He bowed His head and gave up His spirit.

The mission of Christ on earth was perfectly completed.

Matthew 28:6 - "He is not here, for He has risen, just as He said. Come, see the place where He was lying.”

The resurrection was vital. Christ rose from the consequences of sin (death) that we might also rise from the consequences of sin.

Romans 6:5 - For if we have become united with Him in the likeness of His death, certainly we shall also be in the likeness of His resurrection,

We were united with Jesus in His death and united with Him in His resurrection.

Christ’s death and resurrection was:

  • Vicarious - Our Substitution
  • Atonement - Our Covering
  • Propitiation - Our Appeasement
  • Reconciliation - Our New Relationship
  • Redemption - Our Ransom

Adoption

Adoption

Benefits of Salvation

Adoption as a Son or daughter of God

Romans 8:15 For you have not received a spirit of slavery leading to fear again, but you have received a spirit of adoption as sons by which we cry out, "Abba! Father!

Because we are adopted as children of God we have the privilege of now calling God "Father."

Galatians 3:26 For you are all sons of God through faith in Christ Jesus.

Adoption comes through our faith in Jesus Christ as part of our salvation.

The sons of God are revealed through their faith in Jesus Christ and are known by their works.

John 15:8 "My Father is glorified by this, that you bear much fruit, and so prove to be My disciples."

An enormous benefit of being adopted is that you become a descendent of Abraham and have inherited the promises that God gave Abraham.

Galatians 3:29 and if you belong to Christ, then you are Abraham's descendants, heirs according to promise.

Galatians 3:16 Now the promises were spoken to Abraham and to his seed He does not say, "And to seeds," as referring to many, but rather to one, "And to your seed," that is, Christ.

Adoption makes you a seed of Abraham in Christ.

As a child of God, the promises made to Abraham include you. This is a part of your salvation.

These promises are activated through faith in Jesus Christ.

Faith must have an object. In other words faith requires something to believe in. Knowledge of God is critical.

Knowing or understanding what is rightfully yours gives objective for your faith.

Two promises related to knowledge —

Hosea 4:6 My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge.

2 Peter 1:3 seeing that His divine power has granted to us everything pertaining to life and godliness, through the true knowledge of Him who called us by His own glory and excellence.

Some of blessings of Abraham —

Genesis 18:18 since Abraham will surely become a great and mighty nation, and in him all the nations of the earth will be blessed?

Genesis 12:2-3 - "And I will make you a great nation, And I will bless you, And make your name great; And so you shall be a blessing; And I will bless those who bless you, And the one who curses you I will curse And in you all the families of the earth will be blessed."

Genesis 24:1 - Now Abraham was old, advanced in age; and the LORD had blessed Abraham in every way.

It is a child of the King of Kings we have been given great benefits. But these benefits come through knowledge which builds faith.

Everything with God comes by His grace through our faith. That is His unchanging principle.

Knowledge gives you something to believe in. Knowledge of God gives you the truth to believe in.

In today's world it is very important that we step up and take our position as children of God. Romans 8:19 For the anxious longing of the creation waits eagerly for the revealing of the sons of God.

God has blessed us in order to give us power, authority and the ability to be a blessing to others. This is a great responsibility.

It is up to us to make the choice to exercise our Godly authority and to stand in faith what God has given us and be a testimony to the lost world.

Satan loves to conceal and God loves to reveal.

Satan wants to conceal your true identity and position.

God wants to reveal your true identity and position.

Satan desires to replace your true identity with an ever-changing worldly value.

God has given you true value, and your true identity as a child of the King of Kings,

The moment you were born again you were re-created as a child of the King.

2 Corinthians 5:17 Therefore if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creature; the old things passed away; behold, new things have come.

You have a new life, a new identity, new authority, new blessings and new responsibility.

If you do not know what it means to be a child of the King the only identity you have to fall back on is your old identity.

Salvation causes us to be born again as an entirely new creation. It is the person you are intended to be from the beginning of time.
