Hebrews 11:1 Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.

    1. A man’s life will be governed by what he believes.


    1. A Christian's life is governed by in whom he believes.


    1. Faith is the only avenue or approach to God - Hebrews 11:6 - But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him.


    1. Salvation through faith
      1. Ephesians 2:8 - For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God:
      2. Mark 16:16 - He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved; but he that believeth not shall be damned.
      3. Acts 16:31 - And they said, Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and thou shalt be saved, and thy house.
      4. -- Revised Standard - John 1:12 - But to all who received him, who believed in his name, he gave power to become children of God;
      5. Romans 5:1 - Therefore being justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ:
      6. John 5:24 - Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that heareth my word, and believeth on him that sent me, hath everlasting life, and shall not come into condemnation;
      7. Romans 10:9 - That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.


    1. The fullness of the Spirit through faith
      1. Galatians 3:14 … that we might receive the promise of the Spirit through faith.
      2. John 7:39 - But this spake he of the Spirit, which they that believe on him should receive:


    1. Sanctification through faith
      1. Acts 15:9 - And put no difference between us and them, purifying their hearts by faith.
      2. Acts 26:18 …that they may receive forgiveness of sins, and inheritance among them which are sanctified by faith that is in me.


    1. Security by faith
      1. 1 Peter 1:5 - Who are kept by the power of God through faith unto salvation ready to be revealed in the last time.
      2. Romans 11:20 - Well; because of unbelief they were broken off, and thou standest by faith.
      3. Hebrews 10:23 - Let us hold fast the profession of our faith without wavering; (for he is faithful that promised;)
      4. Hebrews 10:12 - But this man, after he had offered one sacrifice for sins for ever, sat down on the right hand of God;


    1. Peace through faith
      1. Isaiah 26:3- Thou wilt keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on thee: because he trusteth in thee.
      2. Hebrews 4:3 - For we which have believed do enter into rest


    1. Healing through faith
      1. James 5:15 - And the prayer of faith shall save the sick, and the Lord shall raise him up; and if he have committed sins, they shall be forgiven him.
      2. Acts 14:9 - The same heard Paul speak: who stedfastly beholding him, and perceiving that he had faith to be healed,


    1. Overcoming the world and it’s ways
      1. 1 John 5:4 - For whatsoever is born of God overcometh the world: and this is the victory that overcometh the world, even our faith.


    1. Overcoming the flesh
      1. Romans 6:11 - Likewise reckon (have faith) ye also yourselves to be dead indeed unto sin, but alive unto God through Jesus Christ our Lord.


    1. Overcoming the devil
      1. Ephesians 6:16 - Above all, taking the shield of faith, wherewith ye shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked.
      2. Luke 22:31-32.- And the Lord said, Simon, Simon, behold, Satan hath desired to have you, that he may sift you as wheat:. But I have prayed for thee, that thy faith fail not:


  1. Our entire Christian life is lived through faith
    1. "The just shall live by faith." (Hk. 2:4; Rom. 1:17; Gal. 3:11; Heb 10:38.)
    2. Galatians 2:20 - I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself for me.


Romans 10:17 So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God

  2. Why is it important to be saved by grace and not by our own works?
