Wisdom from God is a necessary element for anyone to be competent to counsel. Scripture refers to two primary types of learners, wise or foolish. The bible clearly defines the two types.
- Two Classifications of People
- The bible divides people into two groups and the divider that is uses is wise people and foolish people
- A lack of Godly wisdom has gotten all of us into trouble at one time or another
- God will impart wisdom if we are teachable and willing to listen and be correctable
- God’s favorite way to correct and guide us is through teaching
- Teaching is food for the wise and fodder for the fool. (Dr. Self not the bible)
- Foolish people
- Proverbs 12:15 The way of a fool is right in his own eyes; But he that is wise hearkeneth unto counsel.
- A fool is not teachable because he/she thinks they no more than the person that God is using to talk to them
- A fool never admits mistakes and constantly believes he is right
- Proverbs 18:2 A fool takes no pleasure in understanding, but only in expressing his opinion.
- Fools do more talking than listening
- They love the sound of their own voice
- Proverbs 28:26 He who trusts in his own mind is a fool; but he who walks in wisdom will be delivered.
- Since our ways are not His ways it is foolish to trust our own ways
- Wisdom from God will cause you to be delivered from any situation
- God will back up His wisdom with His power for accomplishing what must be done
- Proverbs 1:7 The fear of the Lord is the beginning of knowledge: but fools despise wisdom and instruction.
- Fools do not want to hear what you have to say
- Fools do not want to be corrected
- Fools lack the maturity to receive humbly what is a different view than their own
- When a fool is corrected by instruction they respond with pride and take offense; Proverbs 12:16 The vexation of a fool is known at once, but the prudent man ignores an insult.
- When a wise man is corrected he or she says thank you and listens and is richer as the result
- The bible tells us to be careful who we hang out with because they can affect us in our discernment Proverbs 14:7 Leave the presence of a fool, for there you do not meet words of knowledge.
- Proverbs 12:15 The way of a fool is right in his own eyes; But he that is wise hearkeneth unto counsel.
- Wise people
- Proverbs 19:8 He who gets wisdom loves himself; he who keeps understanding will prosper
- Prosperity comes when we get God’s wisdom
- Many times the keys to wealth are not hard work but smart work
- Proverbs 9:10 The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom, and the knowledge of the Holy One is insight.
- All wisdom begins with the Lord
- Intimate knowledge of the Lord will bring you the answers that you need- Proverbs 2:6 For the Lord gives wisdom; from his mouth come knowledge and understanding;
- Proverbs 28:26 He who trusts in his own mind is a fool; but he who walks in wisdom will be delivered
- This is a serious warning for us to stop trusting our own ways
- God given wisdom will carry you to prosperity, health, freedom, success, peace etc
- Proverbs 14:33 Wisdom abides in the mind of a man of understanding, but it is not known in the heart of fools.
- Wisdom is a choice
- Wisdom is not about your intelligence
- Wisdom is about listening to God and humbling our self to His instruction
- Some people do not listen to other people’s thoughts that they have to get it straight form the Lord
- The Lord is speaking straight to us through other people !
- Throughout the bible God spoke through man
- The bible inspired by God was written by man
- People who do not listen to the people who God has sent into their lives are refusing to listen to God himself.
- Pride is usually the result of poor self-esteem. It is a cover up
- A wise person is one who will humble themselves to other people and receive
- A humble person is a wise person and is the only person who will carry a strong anointing in the long run
- IV. James 1:5
- We must have faith that God has spoken
- If we have no works to go with our faith then we have not truly believed
- Impartation is when God has put something inside of us
- Activation is when we use what has been placed inside
- Both of these come by asking the Lord in faith
- God gives us the power and authority
- Power wisdom and authority is useless without action
- When God gives us wisdom it is important to act on it
- John 10:27 My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me:
- Jesus’ voice is the walk of wisdom
- To follow Christ is the wisdom of God
- Proverbs 19:8 He who gets wisdom loves himself; he who keeps understanding will prosper
