Jesus Came to Heal the Brokenhearted

[Isa 61:1 NKJV] The Spirit of the Lord GOD [is] upon Me, Because the LORD has anointed Me To preach good tidings to the poor; He has sent Me to heal the brokenhearted, To proclaim liberty to the captives, And the opening of the prison to [those who are] bound;

[Luke 4:18 NKJV] 18 "The Spirit of the LORD [is] upon Me, Because He has anointed Me To preach the gospel to [the] poor; He has sent Me to heal the brokenhearted, To proclaim liberty to [the] captives And recovery of sight to [the] blind, To set at liberty those who are oppressed; 19 To proclaim the acceptable year of the LORD." 20 Then He closed the book, and gave [it] back to the attendant and sat down. And the eyes of all who were in the synagogue were fixed on Him. 21 And He began to say to them, "Today this Scripture is fulfilled in your hearing."

The heart of man was not made to endure sin and death. Man was created in the image of God, placed in the garden of Eden to live forever and was never meant to experience sin and death sin and death.

Symptoms of a Broken Heart
  • Chronic Unforgiveness
  • Reliving and Discussing Past Hurts

Brokenness can allow the enemy to torment a Christian. The enemy never has a legal right to torment you. Just because you leave the door open of your home or car does not give me enemy a legal right to come in and steal. It may be easier for them, but they still do not have a legal right.

[Rom 14:8 NKJV] 8 For if we live, we live to the Lord; and if we die, we die to the Lord. Therefore, whether we live or die, we are the Lord's.

[1Cor 6:19-20 NKJV] 19 Or do you not know that your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit [who is] in you, whom you have from God, and you are not your own? 20 For you were bought at a price; therefore glorify God in your body and in your spirit, which are God's.

[Luke 13:16 NKJV] 16 "So ought not this woman, being a daughter of Abraham, whom Satan has bound--think of it--for eighteen years, be loosed from this bond on the Sabbath?"

[Act 20:28 NKJV] …shepherd the church of God which He purchased with His own blood.

[Jhn 10:10 NKJV] 10 "The thief does not come except to steal, and to kill, and to destroy. I have come that they may have life, and that they may have [it] more abundantly.

What Causes a Heart to Stay Broken?

Many of us can testify of multiple emotional and physical healing we received when we made Jesus the Lord of our lives. “He who the Son sets free is free indeed” John 8:36.

My story – Search me O Lord

[Psa 139:23-24 NASB] 23 Search me, O God, and know my heart; Try me and know my anxious thoughts; 24 And see if there be any hurtful way in me And lead me in the everlasting way.

[Pro 20:27 NKJV] 27 The spirit of a man [is] the lamp of the LORD, Searching all the inner depths of his heart.
  • Literally the rooms and chambers of the belly or heart.
  • Exposing every hidden motive.

The light of the Lord shines from within our spirit; God is a spirit and speaks to our spirit; spirit to spirit.

[Rom 8:16 NKJV] 16 The Spirit Himself bears witness with our spirit that we are children of God,

[1Co 2:11 NKJV] 11 For what man knows the things of a man except the spirit of the man which is in him? ..
