Introduction

God has spoken to us throughout the history of man. There are thousands of instances in the Bible where God spoke to man.

It is absolutely illogical and unimaginable that in modern times God has decided to change and not speak anymore.

God speaks to us through the written word. But the written word says He speaks to us with His voice.

For example:

God spoke to Adam Genesis 2:18 Then the LORD God said, "It is not good for the man to be alone; I will make him a helper suitable for him."

God spoke to Moses Exodus 3:4 When the LORD saw that he turned aside to look, God called to him from the midst of the bush and said, "Moses, Moses!" And he said, "Here I am.”

God spoke in a voice to the prophet Joel Joel 1:1 The word of the LORD that came to Joel, the son of Pethuel:

God spoke to Jeremiah Jeremiah 1:4-5 Now the word of the LORD came to me saying, "Before I formed you in the womb I knew you, And before you were born I consecrated you; I have appointed you a prophet to the nations.”

God spoke to Hosea Hosea 1:2 When the LORD first spoke through Hosea, the LORD said to Hosea,

God spoke to Joshua Josuah 1:1 Now it came about after the death of Moses the servant of the LORD, that the LORD spoke to Joshua the son of Nun, Moses' servant, saying,

God spoke to Jesus John 14:10 "Do you not believe that I am in the Father, and the Father is in Me? The words that I say to you I do not speak on My own initiative, but the Father abiding in Me does His works.

Jesus said believers would hear God John 10:27 "My sheep hear My voice, and I know them, and they follow Me;

God spoke to Paul Acts 9:4 - 4 and he fell to the ground and heard a voice saying to him, "Saul, Saul, why are you persecuting Me?" And he said, "Who are You, Lord?" And He said, "I am Jesus whom you are persecuting,

The Bible is our user manual.

  • The Bible is the truth and it is the Word of God
  • Christians are called to be obedient to the Word of God

Identify the True Shepherd’s Voice

Three shepherds that will try to speak to you:

  • The Flesh Shepherd
  • The Demon Shepherd
  • The True Shepherd

John 10:1 - 4 "Truly, truly, I say to you, he who does not enter by the door into the fold of the sheep, but climbs up some other way, he is a thief and a robber. "But he who enters by the door is a shepherd of the sheep. "To him the doorkeeper opens, and the sheep hear his voice, and he calls his own sheep by name and leads them out. "When he puts forth all his own, he goes ahead of them, and the sheep follow him because they know his voice.”

John 10:7 So Jesus said to them again, "Truly, truly, I say to you, I am the door of the sheep.

Listening to God’s Voice Requires a Response

  • Our response requires action.
  • Speaking what God has instructed us to say is critical action.

You cannot follow Jesus without knowing His voice.

Not recognizing the voice of Christ will cause you to be led in the wrong direction.

As ministers Christ – we are called to Hear God’s Voice and Be God’s Voice
