The Seed War is Preposterous

Preposterous - that’s an interesting word. What does preposterous mean? The dictionary defines preposterous as “contrary to nature, reason, or common sense; senseless; foolish, absurd; ridiculous”

Biblical Examples of Preposterous

• A Talking Donkey – Numbers 22:28
• A Staff that Turns into a Snake – Exo 7:10
• A Parting Sea – Exo 14:21
• The Dead Coming Back to Life – John 11:43

• Being Born Again – John 3:3

This course will challenge you with scriptures and interpretations that may sound preposterous, and yet, as we can see through the scriptures we just looked at, where we find biblical testimonies of the preposterous, is also where we find God’s hand at work.


The Berean Challenge

In Acts chapter 17, the apostle Paul escapes from the unbelieving Jews in Thessalonia, and was taken by night into Berea. Afterwards, he entered a synagogue of the Jews in Berea. The Bible states that these Bereans were "more noble" than the Thessalonian Jews, since they "searched the scriptures daily", as seen in Acts 17:11.

These Bereans were more noble than those in Thessalonia, in that they received the word with all readiness of mind, and searched the scriptures daily, whether those things were so.

So a Berean, in view of Acts 17:11, is a Christian who allows the scriptures alone to be the final authority. A true Berean will not accept any teaching that has no scriptural foundation.

Paraphrase Summary

Expository of Genesis 3:15

• Define “bruise” - Strong’s Dictionary defines as “Break” – We would say “crush"
• Define “enmity” - Dictionary calls it “deep seated mutual hatred.”
• Define “seed” – descendants or offspring

First Mention, Curse, & Prophecy

• First Mention of Satan’s Seed – Satan’s seed is also referenced as “his children” in Isa 14:21, as “the son of perdition” in 2Th 2:3, and as “seed” in Dan 2:43, and Jesus speaks to Satan’s children in John 8:44.
• First prophesy in the Bible – Gen 3:15 "And I will put enmity Between you and the woman, And between your seed and her seed; He shall bruise you on the head, And you shall bruise him on the heel."

The Seed Wars Begin

Imagine yourself in Satan’s situation. You’ve just received the first prophesy and the first curse directly from God Himself, and what does the prophecy tell you? It tells you that some descendant of the woman is going to crush your head!

What would you be motivated to do? You’d probably want to find a way to keep that unborn child from being born. So, what Satan endeavored to do was everything in his considerable power to prevent the birth of that child – to prevent the birth of the Messiah. It was war – it was a war of the seeds.


The Genealogy of Jesus

The study of the genealogy of Jesus is a daunting study in its own right, but for the purpose of understanding the Seed Wars, it’s necessary to understand two basic requirements of the birth of the Messiah. First, Jesus needed to be born a rightful heir to the dominion given to Adam, so the genealogy of Jesus had to make Him a son of man or Adam. Second, Jesus had to be born of the royal bloodline to qualify as king of the nation of Israel and thus king of the Jews.

Concerning this requirement in the genealogy of the Messiah, Kingdom Ministries writes, “It was imperative that He be born of that particular lineage in His first appearance in order to become the lawful King and the Prime Inheritor of the earth as given to Adam.”


A Rightful Heir to the Fallen Dominion

Have you ever wondered why God didn’t just create a new Adam? You see, if God had done that, He would have had to break His own law, and being a just God, He could not do that.

God gave rule over the dominion of Earth to Adam. Therefore, it rightfully belonged to Adam and his descendents, but here’s where things get a little complicated because rule of the dominion was turned over to Satan at the fall. The dominion had become Satan’s rightful property, we’ll look at why that is in a moment, but for now realize that God could not just take Satan’s property away from him as that would be theft – the dominion was Satan’s rightful property. So, what God had to do was reverse the condition that transferred ownership of the dominion to Satan by redeeming man, but that wasn’t all, God also had to redeem the dominion itself from the curse of the fall.


Slave to Master Relationship

When a person becomes a slave, any property that person owns becomes the property of the master. When Adam became a slave to sin, the dominion that God gave Adam became the property of Satan who became Adam’s master.


Satan Offers Jesus the World

Have you ever wondered why Jesus never argued Satan’s claim of ownership of the world, when Satan offered to give Jesus all the kingdoms of the world if Jesus would bow down and worship Satan? There was no point in arguing because Satan had rightful ownership to the dominion having received it from Adam at the fall.


A Rightful Heir of Adam

Jesus needed to be a rightful heir and descendent of Adam in order to have a legal claim to redeem the fallen dominion. So, the Messiah had to be born as a bloodline descendent with the birthright to the dominion in order to redeem it.

And how did Jesus redeem the fallen dominion? Well, let’s look at Genesis 3:17-18…

Gen 3:17 Then to Adam He said, "Because you have listened to the voice of your wife, and have eaten from the tree about which I commanded you, saying, 'You shall not eat from it'; Cursed is the ground because of you; In toil you will eat of it All the days of your life.
Gen 3:18 “Both thorns and thistles it shall grow for you…”


At the fall, God curses the ground which is Earth or the dominion given to Adam. Under the curse, God declares the ground will grow “thorns and thistles”.

Have you ever wondered why Jesus wore a crown of thorns at the crucifixion? While it’s commonly understood to symbolize His royalty in the form of a crown, Jesus was redeeming the fallen dominion by taking the curse of thorns to the cross.

Jesus needed to be a rightful heir to the dominion to do this and therefore had to be a bloodline descendent of Adam. God could not have just created a new Adam because Jesus had to be a rightful heir of the first Adam.


The Genealogy of Jesus

Both Romans 1:3 and 2 Timothy 2:8 clearly tell us that Jesus was born “of the seed of David”.

Rom 1:3 Concerning his Son Jesus Christ our Lord, which was made of the seed of David according to the flesh;

2Ti 2:8 Remember that Jesus Christ of the seed of David was raised from the dead according to my gospel:


The Chromosomes of Genealogy

In man, there are two types of seeds – the male sperm and the female ovum both of which are called gametes which comes from the same ancient Greek word that means “wife”.


Gametes & Chromosomes

Each gamete provides 23 chromosomes of the 46 chromosomes that are needed at conception. Ova contain only X chromosomes, but sperm contain either an X or a Y in a one-to-one ratio. At fertilization, there is an equal chance of an XX pair or an XY pair being formed, and thus an equal chance of conceiving a male or female child.

Therefore, when Mary conceived, it meant that her own ovum provided 23 chromosomes and the Holy Spirit provided the other 23 chromosomes.


Conception

How do we know that Mary provided 23 chromosomes? The Bible tells us that in Luke 1:31.

Luk 1:31 “And behold, you will conceive in your womb and bear a son, and you shall name Him Jesus."

God’s word clearly tells us that Mary conceived. Conception is where the two gamets converge, each providing their 23 chromosomes. Conception was essential so that Jesus had the needed genetic link to Adam.


If the Y chromosome carries “the sin nature of the flesh” from father to son and/or daughter, and Jesus only received the X chromosome from Mary, then He could have been born without the “sin nature” of the Y chromosome that is passed on by every male beginning with Adam.

Understanding that we are born into sin and that God can’t look upon sin so we are separated from Him is fairly straight forward and clear, but what was it about the fall that resulted in disease, decay, and death of the flesh? Something more than spiritual separation with God must have taken place when man fell to sin. Something must have happened that directly affected the flesh in such a way as to cause all of Adam’s offspring to inherit and pass on the condition of sin.


Recombination

Concerning the Y chromosome, Creation Ministries International says, “Since the Y chromosome doesn’t have a ‘partner’, it cannot engage in a process known as genetic recombination. During meiosis, chromosome pairs line up, join and swap genetic material in a process called ‘recombination’. (Remember this word “recombination” because we’ll see it again in Lesson 6) This is why two parents can have lots of children that are physically different from each other; the individual sets of chromosomes that each parent passes on are unique, highly-shuffled versions of their own chromosome pairs. This shuffling process enables a mutated chromosome to purge itself from some harmful mutations. But since the Y chromosome does not undergo recombination, mutated portions of it cannot be cut-and-paste over with a ‘healthier’ version.”

This recombination is a form of error-correction, only the Y chromosome doesn’t have it. Errors could therefore be passed along genetic lines virtually unchanged from generation to generation.

According to Stanford University’s Department of Genetics– “For something so tiny, the Y chromosome is fascinating in a lot of ways. It is passed virtually unchanged from father to son…”


The Science of Epigenetics

The word “Epigenetics” comes from the root word “genetics” with the added prefix “epi” which is Greek for over or outer. So, epigenetics literally means over or around the genes.


Epigenetics 101 – A Beginner’s Guide

As we consider and explore genetics, it’s important to understand that God created the complexity of DNA that is literally His roadmap to life, but He also gave us a very stern warning about how it is used. God decreed that all life should reproduce according to its own kind.

Genesis 1:25 reads, “God made all sorts of wild animals, livestock, and small animals, each able to produce offspring of the same kind. And God saw that it was good.” (NLT) Other translations use the phrase “after his kind” or “after their kind.”


According to Their Own Species

The word “kind” comes from the Greek word “meen” which means “species.” So you see, God is literally telling us that all living things should reproduce their own species. The opposite of this instruction would therefore be in rebellion to God’s will. What is the opposite of species reproducing their own kind? That would be species that reproducing something other than their own kind, which includes cross-breeding, species hybrids, and genetic mutations.

This is a warning against tampering with God’s genetic map of life. It’s a warning against cross-breeding species, mixing species, or mixing seed.


An Analogy of Epigenetics

Look at your hand. Now, make a fist and then open your hand back up. In that simple action are countless functions of both operation and design. You couldn’t make a fist if your bones, muscles, and tendons were not designed for that function. You could not make a fist if your brain could not communicate the instruction to the muscles.

Now, imagine slipping short tubes of plastic or cardboard over each finger - perhaps just two or three inch tubes that are just large enough to slip over each finger.

With the tubes in place, make a fist. You can’t because the tubes are preventing your fingers from bending. Do the tubes change the design of your hand? No, they do not. Do the tubes change the way your muscles and tendons work? No, they do not. Do the tubes change your brain’s ability to send the “make-a-fist” instruction to your muscles? No, they do not.

The tubes wrap around the outside of each finger and change nothing except your finger’s ability to bend.

In a similar manner, epigenetic markers wrap around the outside of the DNA preventing the effected gene, like a finger, from working in the way it was designed to work, or in some cases, causing the gene to function in a way it was not designed work.


Inheriting via Behavioral Epigenetics

Quite possibly the most amazing discovery in the science of Epigenetics, is the marker’s ability to be inherited, acquired, and removed, launching a sub-science called Behavioral Epigenetics.

Generational testing of epigenetic markers have proven that a marker can be passed from parent to child, or from ancestor to descendant via the DNA in reproductive chromosomes. This means that if your grandfather carried a marker for chemical dependency or addiction, you may have inherited the marker and also be susceptible to those same addictions. This may offer some scientific understanding as to why alcoholism appears to follow family lines.


Markers Are Like Scars on DNA

Another characteristic of epigenetic markers is their ability to be acquired. Laboratory research has shown that a traumatic experience can create an epigenetic marker like a molecular scar on the DNA. This means that if your grandmother suffered an abusive childhood resulting in a life of low self-esteem, unworthiness, and depression, her trauma may have created an epigenetic marker that you inherited, making you genetically susceptible to depression.


Rebooting the DNA

The final characteristic of epigenetic markers are their ability to be removed or purged from the DNA. Researchers in this science have discovered that an inherited epigenetic marker can be “flushed” off the DNA by introducing a drug called Trichostatin-A which has the ability to break the bond of the epigenetic markers and flush the DNA clean. The researcher who discovered this procedure referred to it as “rebooting (the DNA) like a computer.”


Adam, the Bloodline & Epigenetics

Now, let’s consider Adam’s fall from grace and the bloodline of the Messiah in light of what we just learned about the inheritable characteristics of epigenetic markers.

We know from scripture that death, disease, and decay of the flesh began as a result of Adam’s fall from grace.

We know from scripture that all of Adam’s descendants are born into a state of sin, for all have sinned and have fallen short of the glory of God.

We know that Jesus, called the last Adam and the second man, had to be born sinless.

We know that Joseph, a male, had no genetic role in the birth of the Messiah.

We know that the Y chromosome of the father cannot be passed on by the mother.

We know that being born-again is being born of incorruptible seed.

We know that through Christ, we are a new creation.

Is it possible, that the trauma Adam experienced from being separated from God, at the moment he fell from grace and into sin, was so profound that it created a scar in the form of an epigenetic marker on his DNA that he subsequently passed on as a perfect copy via his male Y chromosome to all descendants insuring that all of his descendants would be born with the mark of sin?

Is it possible that through Immaculate Conception, the Holy Spirit provided a new Y chromosome, free of the epigenetic marker of sin, to insure Jesus was born sinless, and by being born-again in Christ, born-again of incorruptible seed, believers are cleansed of their inherited genetic marker of sin?

Is it possible that the new Y chromosome was created in such a way that it would not again be vulnerable to the condition that corrupted the first seed – that it would literally be incorruptible seed, so that once a person is born-again through Christ, he is no longer of this world?
