This class, as all classes I have taken so far, really has affected my life and the way I see my life. I realize that the enemy has been very crafty at making me feel unworthy or illegitimate. I have believed lies about myself and how I thought God saw me based on certain messages that were spoken over me throughout my younger years. God created me exactly how he wanted me to be, to use the gifts and talents he has placed in me. He has given me the desires in my heart to be the desires of my heart in order to advance his kingdom. I love how he loves me, validates me, affirms me, and makes my life matter. He has built my confidence in him and increased my faith and trust in him. Because of the sacrifice of Jesus for us, he has birthed in us this amazing hope. I am finding my identity in Jesus, he wants us to become like him, a mirror of his unconditional love and justice. I can apply this lesson to my ministry in that I have learned that we are valued and loved and gifted by God for his pleasure. The people of God need to hear this and get this into their spirits. If we really believed and lived this, there is nothing we could not accomplish for the Lord. The kingdom of God is at a place right now in this season where we are faced with so many lies from the enemy, and this encouragement and truth of how God sees us is what will help us fight and be victorious. We belong to God, we are his creation and his children. It is not about us; it is all for God's glory and we are not illegitimate children. We are fathered and adopted into the kingdom of God. I intend to make this message known to anyone who will listen. God does not want his children to live beneath the thumb of the enemy. It is time for God's people to be set free, to become who we are called to be, each one of us, and each one of our callings, working together to build the kingdom of God. Show more

This course has better equipped me to assist, serve and counseling victims of sexual abuse. I gained a great deal of knowledge from the different topics within this course. Some of the key areas I found extremely informative were, parents empowering their children by educating their children about sexual assault and the potential abuser, greatly reducing the risk of our children becoming victims. Looking at the stages of Rape Trauma Syndrome provided additional understanding of the possible effects and recovery of traumatic events. In addition the lessons covering Domestic Violence and Emotional Abuse were also quite helpful in painting the full picture of possible scenarios when counseling victims of sexual abuse. However, I must say for this course I found lesson seven on Passive Aggressive Behavior the most challenging. In this section of study I recognized behaviors of my old man looking back at me, with the enemy attempt to deceive me in believing that was who I still am. Then I realized because of both who I was and who I am now in Christ, I can assist others in their struggle with this disorder. My biggest take away from this course is, Counsel against the faulty belief systems, not the emotions or feelings. We must assist in helping the victim, survivor and counselee intimately discover Jesus and who they truly are in Christ and then they will find freedom and healing. Show more

God truly led me to take this class. This class was not initially on my list of classes to choose for my required Counseling Class credits. I have a dear friend whose husband left her after 37 years of marriage and this class has been helpful to me already in sharing many key points with her about starting over. This class has so many great life points not only to share with family, friends and as a Counselor but points that will help me get who and healthy in my personal life to deal with issues that need to be healed. We all are in a process and have areas that need healing. This class with definitely be a resource for me in the future to refer back to over and over. Show more

While I have not been called to counsel, I learned from a previous counseling course that we are all called to disciple. Life Coaching, whether a career path or not, teaches believers just how to do that. This course has helped me understand the difference between counseling and life coaching. It has helped me understand the difference between a desire and a calling. It has also helped me understand we are all managers of the many resources God gives us to faithfully stewards for the sole benefit of others and the furtherance of His Kingdom. I spent many years trying to discern His call and gaining the confidence to step out in faith and obediently answer His call. Life Coaching has drawn me to use the knowledge I gained in these lessons along with my own experiences to disciple others by helping them seek, find, understand and walk in their God-given purpose. First, I learned that everyone is called to preach the Gospel of Christ, and everyone has got a message. Everyone is not called to pulpit ministry, but everyone is called to the ministry of reconciliation. This must be taught in Church circles so that the people of God know that God is also counting on them to preach and not just be preached to. They must know that they are the ones to get their neighbors and friends saved and not wait for only pastors to do so.
Learning about the different types of sermons has helped me to better prepare my sermons to be able to carry the exact message to the hearts of the listeners. This also helps me to keep my sermons focused on the main point and not having to go back and forth.
The qualities of a good sermon taught in this course has impacted me so much. Most profound for me amongst all the qualities listed is that a good sermon never leaves people the same. It is very easy for sermons to simply become a religious activity within the weekly Church routine and therefore we do not pay attention to know if people are getting blessed by every sermon. Having at the back of my mind that my sermon must change a life today, will guide my preparation and indeed delivery. My sermon should be a call to make God’s people closer to Him, it should always leave them better people than they were before the sermon.
I have also learned from this course and committed myself to put to application and not preach sermons based on my personal opinion, but on what the Word of God says. The listeners must be able to know and see that the Word of God says so and that’s why I preach. I must avoid sentiments and personal opinions or experiences. If I do this, I build a faulty doctrine in the Church and cause more problems rather than build. I should not even give my personal opinion of scripture as the accurate explanation, rather I should take the Word of God in context to get the exact message of the heart of the writer at the time of writing. I have learned a lot as well as have been reminded of a lot of things about apologetics. It seems to me that the best way to engage with skeptics, atheists, agnostics, evolutionists, etc. is to focus on the indisputable facts about Jesus. If Jesus lived, died, and rose from the dead as He did; if so many prophecies about Jesus, far beyond mathematical probability, have been fulfilled; if the fearful disciples were emboldened after the resurrection and willingly died for their faith in Jesus, refusing to renounce their faith; if the Church is still growing as the Holy Spirit is still being poured out even in the 21st century; if the words spoken by Jesus came to fulfillment, for example, the destruction of the temple, then the Bible is unquestionably accurate and reliable.
In addition, the authenticity of the Bible purely from a historical perspective is mind-boggling, judging by the sheer number of manuscripts and the proximity of writing to the events in the New testament.
What all this does is reinforce my confidence, trust, and belief in God and His Word. I firmly believe that apologetics is intertwined in evangelism and discipleship, and I will be teaching our members not to be intimidated by secular and godless arguments against their faith. We have a very strong case, in fact, an airtight one that cannot be scrapped. Since God is alive and Jesus our Lord and Saviour sits at His right hand and the Holy Spirit is ever present, we can boldly say that Jesus is the Way,the Truth and the Life.
This course is an absolute necessity for every Christian. If it is okay, I will be using some of the material to teach our members about Christian Apologetics and its need. Show more

This course, Prophetic Counseling, has been most valuable to me. Although I was certain I had not been called to counsel, I questioned if a degree in counseling would help me fulfill my true calling and purpose. As I suspected, I received confirmation to continue with a Theology degree. However, this course remained to be completed and it ending up helping me understand His word in ways I would not have imagined. While we may not all be called to counsel, we are each called to disciple. Regardless of our individual gifting and independent of our theological knowledge, we are all called to hear His voice and share His word with others in truth, grace, and good time. God is relational and He created us to relate to Him and to others. This course gives much practical application of how we can better relate His truth to those around us, whether counseling another, making disciples or simply being a good friend. Show more

This whole course could not have come at a better time in my life. Everything i have learned helps me in every way because in ministry and in life, conflicts between people and offenses happen. But with the knowledge i have gained, i now know how to handle them in a Godly manner representing Christ in my responses not my actions. I know i can and have offended people by what i say but now i know that yes i am responsible for my thoughts, words, and actions. And that other people are responsible for theirs and that i don't have to take an offense from others. Especially in ministry because we need to be thick skinned but have a soft heart. That way we can not take an offense but yet still minister out of love and compassion. This whole course was eye opening and confirmation all at the same time. Because especially now in my own life i have a business opportunity and i will be around a lot of young people so now i know how to handle certain situations between them as well. Handling it as a leader so hopefully they can see Jesus in my responses and words. And because of this course i know now the right and wrong way of handling certain situations. Show more

I am very thankful to Dr. Ray who invited me to be a part of this life webinar. It was my first experience with ICM. I am very encouraged and already yesterday and today lead my students to practice in prophecy. I want to be bold and practice this gift more.
What appealed to me the most?
* Allow the Holy Spirit to interpret and minister to the individual.
* Personal desire can cloud the giving and receiving of prophetic words.
* There are natural signs, and there are supernatural signs about our call. We live simultaneously.
Thank you for reading all my thoughts! Show more

I understand the important powers and the effectiveness of The Holy Spirit. I can never disqualify what I learned in the eight lessons. I am better able to do ministry as a result of what I’ve learned. The attributes of The Holy Spirit. I now understand the many works of The Holy Spirit. I now understand the work of The Holy Spirit and the believer, and the unbeliever, in the world, in the ministry of Christ, in the ministry of the church, and much more. I now understand that The Holy Spirit has given me the revelation of Christ, so my understanding of The Holy Spirit helps me to better understand how it is essential to my understanding of Jesus the Christ, Him crucified, and the risen Savior. This teaching will be valuable to me and to those that I come in contact within the ministry. Thanks to Dr. Self for this profound teaching of these eight lessons on The Holy Spirit. Show more
