Techanical Help - FAQ
As technical questions are asked by ICM students, answers and solutions to problems will be posted here.
Question - When I click on the green buttons to expand a menu, nothing happens.
Answer - This sometimes happens in Internet Explorer versions 6, 7, and 8. One cause is a known problem with Microsoft's web browser in processing CSS layers. Clicking the compatibility mode button will sometimes reset Internet Explorer into the correct mode and fix the problem.
To avoid this problem altogether, we recommend using Mozilla Firefox which does not have the layer problem. Click here to download Mozilla Firefox.
Question - When I submit my lesson assignment, the page goes blank and I have to start over.
Answer - For security reasons, your student account cannot sit idle for longer than 30 minutes. If it does, you are automatically logged out.
Any work you had in your online assignment form is lost if you are automatically logged out after passing the 30-minute limit.
First and foremost, students should practice saving a copy of their work on their local computer. In the event of an automatic logoff, your work will not be lost as you have a local copy saved.
Second, each assignment page has a 30-minute countdown timer and a reset link. Pressing the reset link will reload the assignment page and reset the countdown timer. This can save you from having to login again but it will not save work already entered into the assignment form.
